HTML, short for HyperText Markup Language ("Hypertext Markup Language"), refersto the markup for the preparation of web pages language. It is a standard that servesas a reference for the development of web pages in its different versions, defines abasic structure and one code (called HTML code) for the definition of the content of aweb page, such as text, images, videos, among others. It is a standard run by the W3Corganization devoted to standardization of almost all of the technologies linked to theweb, especially in relation to their writing and interpretation.

HTML language based his philosophy of development on the referencing. To add anexternal element to the page (image, video, script, among others), this is notembedded directly in the page's code, but it is a reference to the location of the itemtext. In this way, the web page contains only text while falls the task of uniting all theelements and display the final page in the web browser (interpreter of the code). As astandard, HTML seeks to be a language that allows any web page written in a certainversion, can be interpreted in the same way (standard) by any up-to-date webbrowser.
